A STORY
Florian Rabanser has swiftly garnered an outstanding international reputation as a master distiller. His spirits encapsulate technical prowess, outstanding quality sourced mainly from South Tyrol, and an open-minded, inquisitive approach. Acquiring and restoring Plunhof 15 years ago, Rabanser set up a small distillery. The innate sense for the perfect balance of flavors runs in the veins of this trained chef. Above all, Zu Plun's products mirror the defining traits of this dynamic master distiller: rooted in his homeland yet attuned to the world. His spirits rely on the quality of exceptional products from South Tyrolean orchards and vineyards, the herbs from the nearby Seiser Alm, and select regional ingredients from adjacent areas like Valpolicella or Lake Garda. A cosmopolitan, curious individual, Rabanser doesn't confine himself to the traditional range of fruit-based spirits and grappas. He has expanded his spectrum to unconventional specialties like rum and gin, maintaining the same unwavering commitment to uncompromising quality.
THE ASSORTMENT
Gin
Zu Plun's Gin is exclusively distilled from ingredients originating in the Dolomites. While using typical herbs for gin production, we replace or complement them with plants growing uniquely in this mountainous region.
Rhum
Zu Plun Rhum is distilled from Central American molasses that traverse the northern port cities of Amsterdam and Hamburg before reaching Europe. Distilled in the heart of the Dolomites, our Rhum acquires a fruity aroma, at times reminiscent of Mezcal.
Grappa
Zu Plun's Grappas are exclusively distilled from the pomace of selected small wineries. Their pressing methods leave more liquid and hence more aroma in this valuable raw material. Meticulous work in viticulture is crucial for the quality.
Fruit Brandy
The top fruit brandies at Zu Plun reflect both the high quality of fruit from South Tyrol and the Dolomite region, as well as the artistry of the master distiller. Down-to-earth craftsmanship refines only the purest, known as the "heart cut of the distillate," to bring forth the purest essence of the fruit.
